QUEENSLAND BLUE COUCH (DIGITARIA DIDACTYLA)Queensland Blue Couch (Digitaria didactyla), characterised by its softness and blue/green hue, occurs naturally in South-East Queensland. For this reason it is often the variety of lawn found in homes in the older, established areas of Brisbane and surrounding regional centres (and should be considered if matching up to an existing lawn in these areas). After dry periods, Queensland Blue Couch will respond extremely rapidly to rainfall. It produces minimal thatch and there-for does not suffer from a “strawy” appearance after mowing as some varieties of Green Couch do. This variety will perform reasonably well if neglected but with a little extra care, Queensland Blue Couch can provide a very attractive, manicured appearance. |
